Michael has been attending our Charlotte Harbor YMCA Early Learning Academy since he was 2 years old. As a single mom, Laura was not receiving assistance or child support.

She took the next step to improve the future for her family and is continuing her education towards her Bachelor’s Degree. As Laura struggled to make a stable home, she was afraid she would have to pull Michael from the Early Learning Academy due to the inability to pay. The Y reached out and assisted her in receiving a scholarship to help offset the cost and keep Michael at the Early Learning Academy. This would not be possible without the support of donors like you.

“The daily education and care that Michael receives at the Early Learning Academy wouldn’t be accessible without scholarship assistance. He is so smart and we don’t want him to lose the momentum he has made.”

Because of the impact the Y and your support has made on Laura and Michael, she continues to give back by donating shoes and clothing for other children in need at the Early Learning Academy whenever she is able.

 

As a Community Board Member, your support can make an impact with our life-changing programs for individuals and families in our community. For many this would not be possible without financial assistance from YMCA of Southwest Florida Children and Families Scholarship Fund.

Each year, YMCA of Southwest Florida provides over $1,400,000 in scholarship assistance to individuals in our community. Your gift’s impact will open a world of possibility, opportunity and hope to those individuals in our community that we serve daily.

As a Community Board Member, I consider YMCA of Southwest Florida a philanthropic priority and make an annual gift that reflects that priority.  It is expected that 100% of the Community Board contributes annually to the YMCA either with a personal gift or through their community influence to raise $2,500.  This assists in ensuring that the YMCA can credibly solicit contributions from foundations, organizations and individuals. Your support directly to the YMCA gives young people a chance at a better future, inspires healthy lifestyles and builds vibrant communities.
